31% of Earth is covered by life-giving forests, which are home to 80% of land animals, plants, and insects. However, every year the world loses 10 million hectares of forest. (UN 2021, FAO 2020)
Lost forests mean the disappearance of families in rural communities, loss of species, increased carbon emissions, and the degradation of our land.
Through our little oasis, HemaHomes, along with tree-planting initiatives and nature conservation education, we are focused on making the environment greener, more beautiful, safe, and homey. We achieve this through sustainable tourism and practices that protect, restore, and promote nature (SDG Goal 15).
“Hema”, a Swahili word meaning ‘breathe’ and ‘tent,’ embodies our core mission of conserving nature, nurturing our Earth as a shared home.
Ihema Homes and Nature Company LTD began as an Airbnb rental (HemaHomes) in December 2019 hosting guests from around the world in the piece of paradise, blending them with the family, and exposing them to the beautiful Tanzanian culture.
